Drag x Drive Overview Trailer Shows What Happens When 3-on-3 Wheelchair Basketball Meets Rugby on Switch 2

Coming August 14, 2025 for Nintendo Switch 2, Drag x Drive puts a new spin on 3-on-3 sports with wheelchair basketball, rugby, motocross, and skateboarding. This $19.99 digital-only game uses Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls to blend physical motion with strategy.

Slide both Joy-Con 2 controllers on a flat surface to move characters (mimicking wheelchair motion) or pull one back to pivot and spin. Requires wrist straps and clear space. Shoot, dunk or do stunts like backflips and half-pipe launches for extra points. You can also clap or high-five teammates for fun.

Online play shines with Public Parks hosting up to 12 players, auto-launching 3-on-3 matches when 6 players join while Friend Parks offer custom private sessions with mini-games. Seamless transitions between solo AI matches and online play (requires Nintendo Switch Online membership), ensure constant engagement. Best of all, GameChat, is free until March 31, 2026, further enhancing multiplayer connectivity.

Three driver types – Guard, Center, Forward – offer different play styles. Customize helmets, armor, frames, tires, colors and numbers earned through challenges. To keep things interesting, trophies from challenges are used to create a progression system tailored to your play style.

Mini-games like Circuit Sprint, shooting contests, Rebound Scramble and jump rope challenge add variety to the game. That said, Nintendo is building up to the release with a Global Jam demo on August 9-10, 2025 for Switch 2 players with Switch Online featuring tutorials and online matches across three four-hour windows. Pre-orders on the eShop and My Nintendo Store suggest they think it’s going to be a hit.

Put simply, Drag x Drive finds its own space, prioritizing accessibility and innovation over competition with NBA 2K. The trailer, the controls and the customization are all new and promise a new sports experience. It’s a Switch 2 exclusive despite the setup specific challenges.
