EA’s Battlefield 6 is a Modern War Machine Ready to Roll, Set for Release on October 10

Battlefield 6 hits PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on October 10 and is looking to reclaim its crown as the king of big-budget shooters. After 2021’s rocky Battlefield 2042 release, this game blends classic with new and delivers heart pounding multiplayer action that’s going to hook you.
The multiplayer trailer shows soldiers charging through a crumbling Manhattan, jets flying overhead and tanks plowing through rubble. Set in a 2027-2030 conflict between a rogue group, Pax Armata and NATO, the Frostbite Engine brings the chaos to life.

Destruction is Battlefield 6’s pulse and it’s been turned up to 11. Blow a wall to flank enemies or drop a ceiling to trap them, with entire buildings leveling for game changing moments. This tactical chaos rewards clever plays as much as sharp shooting, bringing back the series’ mayhem with a modern twist.
Classic classes – Assault, Recon, Support and Engineer – return with a vengeance, each with their own gadgets and weapons. Medics can drag fallen teammates to safety before reviving them, keeping you in the action. Recon calls in artillery, Engineers tackle vehicles and Support unleashes heavy firepower. You’re locked to class specific gear like assault rifles for Assault but can mix and match other weapons for flexibility, blending old school structure with room to play your way.
Nine launch maps, including a fiery remake of Battlefield 3’s Operation Firestorm, span deserts to urban jungles like New York City. Modes like Conquest, Rush and Breakthrough join Team Deathmatch, Domination and a new Escalation mode where a shrinking zone ramps up the intensity. Portal mode returns for custom games so you can script and tweak maps for endless replayability, like a grittier version of Halo’s Forge.
The Kinesthetic Combat System makes every movement feel snappy – sprinting, crouching and shooting flow smoothly with a forward roll dodge adding flair to firefights. Gunplay is precise and vehicles – tanks to jets – are a blast in dogfights and assaults.
An open beta hits August 7 for early access and August 9-17 for everyone, testing two weapon modes: class locked for classic fans and open loadouts for freedom. Priced at $79.99 standard or $109.99 for the Phantom Edition with extras, it’s steep, with no early access perks. A single-player campaign focusing on Pax Armata is teased but light on details.
