Audi’s Concept C is a Sleek Electric Roadster That Draws Inspiration from the Iconic TT

Audi has a history of making big ideas happen and the Concept C is no exception. Inspired by the classic TT and the legendary Auto Union racers of the 1930s, this all-electric two-seater, unveiled in Milan and headed to the Munich show in 2025, is a first look at a production car that will hit the roads in 2027.
At 178 inches long, 78 inches wide, 50.3 inches tall, the Concept C is more R8 than TT. It has a planted stance thanks to its 101.1 inch wheelbase and 3,726 pounds is remarkably light for an electric car. The exterior is carved from a single piece of metal and is finished in a satin Titanium hue. A slim headlight with a unique four-element light signature that mimics the four-ring logo sits on either side of a low, vertical grille that’s the front end’s anchor. The grille is a nod to the 1936 Auto Union Type C and the 2004 A6 and will be used on future models.

The body is smooth, without creases or fake vents, while the car itself has a sculptural, monolithic look, thanks to the back window being replaced with three horizontal slats, one of which is a brake light. The electrically retractable hardtop is a first for an Audi roadster. The coupe can be converted into an open-air cruiser by folding away two panels, so you get the best of both worlds without sacrificing the sleek look. The rear diffuser and side splitters have forged carbon fiber trim for a dramatic and cozy touch.
Single-piece bucket seats made of two-tone wool twill add some solidity to the leather-free interior, which prioritizes comfort and breathability. A circular steering wheel (yes, really) and anodized aluminum controls with the iconic Audi click are prominent features. The 10.4-inch central screen slides into the dashboard when not in use. Climate controls glow softly through a translucent strip, while storage is concealed beneath a transparent console cover.
Not much is known about the Concept C’s powertrain but it’s all electric and has a mid-mounted battery called “mid-energy”. An all-wheel drive system is possible with an additional motor, but the base model should be rear-wheel drive. Fast charging is promised with an 800 volt electrical system like modern EVs. Production might become more realistic if it shares a platform with the upcoming electric Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster.
Audi says the design will be almost identical to the concept when it goes into production in 2027. Only the door handles and sensors will change but the overall design won’t. It is likely to be priced in the six figures, falling somewhere between the $53,000 TT and the $161,000 R8. Because of the cost savings from sharing the platform with Porsche’s 718 EV, this is a strategy rather than a fantasy.
