Business and tax attorney Joi-Lin Hunt chatted about being an influencer, entrepreneur, and mentor in the digital age.

Background on Joi-Lin Hunt

Joi-Lin Hunt graduated from Southern University Law School in 2004, and she earned her Masters in Tax Law from Southern Methodist University in 2005.

After working for a prominent tax law firm, she opened her own law practice The Hunt Law Group, PC in 2007 and tax preparation company Quick Money Tax Service.

After watching the Chris Rock movie “Good Hair” in 2009, she realized that the hair extension industry was a multi-billion industry.

With no cosmetology license and never wearing hair extensions a day in her life, she started “Creme de la Creme Hair,” an upscale hair extensions boutique in Houston.

Their hair extensions have been featured in television show’s such as VH1’s Basketball Wives and music videos such as Justin Bieber.

In 2012, she wanted to reach the masses and become the “Forever 21” of the hair industry, so she started the hair salon franchise Super Weave Xpress – Houston’s Home of the Sew-In-Weave.

With its success and accelerated growth, Super Weave Xpress became a multi-million dollar business with 10 locations throughout Texas and Louisiana.

Many people know you as a public figure and social influener. For those new to your story, how would you describe who you are and what you do?

At my core, I’m someone who believes in resilience and empowerment. I use my platform to help people rebuild, reinvent, and create lives they’re proud of.

That takes many forms—I run mentorship programs, consulting initiatives, and courses that give individuals the strategies they need to achieve financial independence and stability.

My Instagram is an extension of that work. It’s a place where I can share both the polished moments and the raw realities, so people understand that success is possible, even after setbacks.

Your personal story has been widely covered. How did your journey influence the work you do today?

My journey shaped everything. When I left a long-term marriage in 2022, I had to start completely over. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But I realized that if I could rebuild my own life, I could also help others rebuild theirs.

That realization gave me both purpose and drive. Today, the work I do with clients and followers is grounded in that lived experience—it’s not theory, it’s real life.

How does it feel to be an influencer in the digital age?

The digital age has completely changed the way we connect and build. For me, it’s been a blessing.

Instagram, for example, isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a global stage where I can share my voice, reach people across continents, and offer guidance in real time.

At the same time, it demands authenticity. Audiences today are smart; they want transparency and substance, not just pretty pictures.

So, being an influencer in this era means you have to be adaptable, honest, and willing to use digital tools not just to market yourself, but to genuinely serve people.

Your followers often describe you as both ‘glamorous’ and ‘relatable.’ How do you balance those two sides?

I think that balance is what keeps people connected. I love looking and feeling my best, but I also don’t shy away from talking about the challenges I’ve faced.

People need to see both sides—the highlight reel and the behind-the-scenes reality. That honesty is what builds trust.

Many see you as a mentor as much as an influencer. What do you think sets your approach apart?

I think it’s the fact that I lead with both vulnerability and strategy. I’m not afraid to talk about what I’ve been through, but I also don’t stop at sharing the story—I give people the tools and steps they can use in their own lives.

It’s about showing that transformation is possible and then handing people a roadmap they can actually follow.

You’ve been featured in international media outlets. How does that recognition feel, and what does it mean for your journey?

It’s incredibly humbling. When I see my story and my work covered by major publications, I take it as validation that resilience resonates universally.

It’s not just my journey anymore—it becomes something bigger, something that people across cultures can relate to.

And it reminds me to keep going, because the message clearly matters.

What do you hope people take away from following you or working with you?

I hope they walk away believing that they have the power to rebuild and redefine their own story.

Life will throw challenges at all of us. But your future isn’t defined by what you lose—it’s defined by how you rise again.

If my journey proves anything, it’s that reinvention is always possible.

Her life story is an inspiration to us all, especially due to her resilience, influence, and ability to redefine success.
