Raheem Sterling has reportedly been told to eat alone and use seperate toilets after Chelsea’s failure to sell him in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca put Sterling in his ‘bomb squad’ last summer and sanctioned his loan move to London rivals Arsenal.

The Blues were hoping to offload the 30-year-old winger ahead of the 2025-26 campaign but were unable to do so before the window closed.

It is believed that Sterling – on £325,000-per-week wages – turned down lucrative offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Sterling is determined to make a return to the England squad and it’s thought that he wants to play for a club at a higher level.

It doesn’t appear that he will be getting any game time at Chelsea with the player, who was also linked to Fulham and Crystal Palace, being kept entirely separated from the first team.

It is said that the exile Sterling is facing is the kind of measure usually reserved for punishing individuals for disciplinary breaches.

Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana have been given the same treatment as Sterling, with Chelsea unable to sell those two ‘bomb squad’ members too.

Disasi reportedly rejected a loan offer from West Ham and other clubs while Celtic’s rumoured interest Datro Fofana also came to nothing.

‘Sterling didn’t grasp his chance at Arsenal’

Michael Owen recently weighed in on Sterling’s future at Chelsea, admitting that the Englishman was in a ‘difficult’ situation.

‘It’s a difficult one with Raheem,’ Owen told 247Bet. ‘He’s on big wages, and he didn’t quite grasp his chance at Arsenal.

‘He’s clearly surplus to requirements at Chelsea. Sadly, the only way for him now is probably down to a Crystal Palace, West Ham, that type of club.

‘But only if he’s happy to take a big wage cut, which only he can answer.

‘The big question will be the wages. Some might say, ‘Well, you’re rich enough already’ – but would you throw away £200,000-a-week to move to a lesser club, even if it means playing more?

‘If he’s already very wealthy and doesn’t need the money, maybe he would.

‘But at this stage of his career, towards the back end, you don’t normally want to throw that money away.

‘So, it’ll come down to whether he wants to trade wages for an opportunity again. Even at a lesser team, he might just want to play regularly again.’
