Chelsea star Joao Pedro vomited on the pitch after a heavy collision with Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli during Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Chile.

Pedro clashed head-on with his international team-mate while chasing a loose ball in the 18th minute of the World Cup qualifying match.

The Chelsea forward was sick on the pitch and collapsed as medical staff rushed to his aid before Pedro was eventually able to continue playing.

Pedro was substituted in the 71st minute and reassured fans he was feeling better after Brazil’s win.

‘I was following the action, I was running to try to catch the ball,’ Pedro said following the game.

‘When I looked ahead, Martinelli was there. We collided there, and I received a blow to the stomach. I felt a little bad, but I was calm afterwards.’

Pedro has shined at Chelsea since joining the club in a £60m deal from Brighton in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has conjured up two goals and two assists across his opening three Premier League games for the Blues.

‘I’m very happy to play good football for Chelsea and to be back with the Brazilian national team,’ Pedro added.

‘I think every boy’s dream is to be here, and today I was able to start playing.

‘I only missed a goal, which is partly due to that. But in the end, what matters is the victory.’

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca recently praised Pedro for his strong form at Chelsea.

‘I am very happy for Joao,’ Maresca said. ‘He has the quality to decide games.

‘We knew what Joao was like. We brought him in because [last] season we faced many teams with low blocks and his quality is very good against these kinds of teams.’

Emile Heskey has told Metro that he’s been ‘blown away’ by Pedro since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

‘Joao Pedro has done really well, I’ve been blown away by how quickly he’s hit the ground running,’ Heskey told Metro on behalf of Casino.org, who are an affiliate for the UK casino market.

‘Sure, he knows the league, but you never know how these moves are going to go, and he’s hit the ground running and given Chelsea a different dynamic.

‘That number nine shirt becomes a bit of a burden, but in Joao Pedro, they seem to have a striker that looks like he’s enjoying his football and that pressure. He’s playing with a smile on his face and enjoying being out there.’
