Lenovo demonstrated an interesting peripheral at IFA 2025: a laptop stand that follows you around instead of simply sitting there. This motorized stand, known as the Smart Motion Concept, adjusts your laptop’s posture in real time to increase workstation efficiency.

The Smart Motion Concept is designed to operate smoothly with Lenovo’s AI-powered PCs, such as the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, and tracks your motions using your laptop’s camera, microphone, and speakers. Three precision motors lift, tilt, and swivel the stand to keep the screen at eye level while you sit, stand, or move around during a video conversation. Facial tracking ensures the screen stays aligned with your gaze which could be a game changer for virtual meetings.

Control goes beyond automated adjustments with voice commands to fine tune the stand’s position without lifting a finger, perfect for hands-free use during a busy day. Lenovo also includes an AI-powered ring for gesture control which allows you to tilt or rotate the screen with a wave of your hand.

Besides movement, the Smart Motion Concept also acts as a cooling solution. Integrated fans add 5-10 watts of thermal headroom which can improve performance on compact laptops that suffer from heat during heavy tasks.

Another advantage is connectivity, as the stand doubles as a USB dock with HDMI, DisplayPort, USB Type-A, USB Type-C and Ethernet. The port configuration hasn’t been determined but the prototype is a multifunctional hub that reduces desk clutter by consolidating cables.

Health focused features like posture reminders that tell you to sit up straight address the slouching that comes with sitting at a computer for hours.
