Inter Milan star drops Premier League hint after Man Utd transfer links | Football

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has said he would relish the opportunity to play in the Premier League after a summer in which he was linked with Manchester United.
Dumfries has been a stalwart figure for the Italian giants since signing from PSV Eindhoven in August 2021 for €14.25million.
The Dutch international thrived in the right wing-back role for Simone Inzaghi, scoring 11 goals in all competitions last season to help Inter reach the Champions League final last season.
But with Inzaghi departing over the summer, speculation over Dumfries’ future grew, especially as reports emerged that the defender had a €25m (£21.6m) release clause in his contract until mid-July.
United have been repeatedly linked with a move for Dumfries and were credited with interest once again this summer as Amorim looked to build a squad to suit his 3-4-2-1 formation.

Ultimately, the Red Devils did not table a bid for the Inter defender, but Dumfries still appears keen to test himself in the English top-flight if the opportunity arises in the future.
‘The Premier League is a fantastic competition. I’m happy at Inter, but I think I could also do very well in England,’ Dumfries said after scoring for the Netherlands in a 1-1 draw against Poland.

‘If there were a professional opportunity, I would certainly be interested.’
‘The Premier League is known for its intensity, while Serie A is known for its tactical ability.
‘These are two different approaches to football. The Champions League, however, always offers exciting clashes.’
The signing of Dumfries has already been endorsed by United legend Gary Neville, who last season suggested that the Dutchman would be a perfect fit for Amorim’s style of play.
‘With the way Man United are playing with a back-five and wing-backs under Ruben Amorim, I was thinking about that right wing-back,’ Neville said of Dumfries after Inter’s chaotic Champions League win over Barcelona.
‘I was thinking about Dumfries for United. I would like to see him in the Premier League, wouldn’t you? How good was he? He was unbelievable. He’s so good, so good.’
