Atari Gamestation Go Handheld
Two years ago, Atari and My Arcade announced a handheld that would bring classic gaming into the modern age without losing its soul. Now the Atari Gamestation Go is here, available to preorder for $179.99 with shipping starting in October 2025.

Over 200 games come built into the Gamestation Go, from Atari’s vast library across the 2600, 5200, 7800 and arcade eras. You’ll find heavy hitters like Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command and PAC-MAN, plus lesser known gems like Adventure and Swordquest: Earthworld. The five Atari Recharged titles – modern takes on classics like Breakout and Berzerk – add a new twist, while the Balls of Steel pinball tables bring variety. Licensed games from Jaleco and Piko Interactive, including Bases Loaded and Top Racer, round out the decades-spanning collection. No ROM hunting or emulation headaches, everything is preinstalled, fully licensed and ready to play.

Instead of forcing old games to fit modern inputs, My Arcade packed six different control types into the device. On the left is a paddle dial for Breakout, a trackball for Centipede, a D-pad for platformers and A, B, X, Y buttons for standard gameplay. A numeric keypad for text-based or strategy games and shoulder bumpers for more complex games. The SmartGlow feature lights up only the controls needed for each game, a nice touch that guides you without clutter.

The 7-inch high-resolution display is great. It’s bright, sharp and big enough to make pixelated classics pop without feeling stretched. At this size though, don’t expect to slip the Gamestation Go into your pocket – it’s more briefcase than jeans-friendly. A rechargeable battery gives 4-5 hours of playtime, which is solid but not spectacular for a device running lightweight retro games. USB-C ports for charging and external controller connections and an HDMI output to hook it up to a TV for big screen gaming. A pop-out stand for tabletop play and WiFi for over-the-air updates.

Atari’s Gamestation Go isn’t trying to compete with high powered handhelds like the Steam Deck. It’s carving out a niche for gamers who want authenticity without hassle. Preorders are live now on Atari’s website, GameStop and EB Games with a release in October 2025.
