A new DJI action camera has popped up and it’s small enough to fit in your pocket but packed with possibilities. Leaked images and a short video clip have revealed the DJI Osmo Nano, a compact follow-up to the Action 2 that launched four years ago. This modular marvel is designed to rival Insta360’s Go series.

Modularity is the Osmo Nano’s key selling point. A tiny camera module, smaller than the Action 2, attaches to a separate display unit via magnets. You can snap the camera onto clothing, hats or even a pet’s collar for unique perspectives then reattach it to the screen for live previews or playback. Unlike the Insta360 Go 3S which tucks the camera into a flip-up case the Osmo Nano’s display module rotates to switch between first-person and selfie modes, making it perfect for vloggers and adventurers.

Leaked photos show a slightly bulkier profile when assembled but the magnetic mounting system opens up creative possibilities from chest-worn POV shots to tripod mounted captures. Storage options are a bonus. Alongside the confirmed 128 GB model rumors point to a 64 GB version with both supporting microSD cards for extra storage. The 64 GB model is expected to retail for around $431 (€369) while the 128 GB version may be $466 (€399) which is cheaper than the Go Ultra’s starting price of €429.

While the sensor size and image quality is still under wraps, the compact form factor raises questions about low light performance which is a common issue for small action cameras. The Action 5 Pro made great strides in this area but the Osmo Nano’s small size may limit its capabilities. But being able to stick it anywhere without risking an expensive smartphone makes it a versatile tool for dynamic footage. Accessories like magnetic clips for clothing or pet collars further expand its possibilities for skateboarders, pet owners or anyone looking for a new angle.
