Faraday Future’s FX Super One is a Futuristic Electric Minivan with a Digital F.A.C.E.

Faraday Future, a company that’s been through more ups and downs than a rollercoaster, is back with a vehicle that has a giant digital screen where a grille would normally be. The FX Super One, an electric minivan, aims to revolutionize the family-hauler segment in the US.

The California based company has faced financial struggles since its founding in 2014 and has only delivered 16 FF 91 SUVs. Priced at $309,000, those tech packed SUVs were commercial failures. Now the FX Super One is targeting a wider audience, whether it be families, businesses or even influencers looking for a mobile studio. Production will start in Hanford, California by the end of 2025 and it has a spacious interior, premium materials and two powertrain options – a fully electric and a hybrid with a gas engine to extend range via battery charging. Rumors suggest the electric version could match 452 horsepower of comparable vehicles.

Inside the FX Super One feels like a luxury jet on wheels. The second row has captain’s chairs that recline like first class airline seats, adjustable via a trackpad. A 17.3 inch TV folds down for passengers to stream on long drives. Ambient lighting, window shades and a heat or cool compartment for drinks make the cabin feel luxurious while sliding seats on tracks offer flexible cargo space. Folding the third row flat accommodates a queen size mattress, perfect for spontaneous camping or as Faraday puts it “glamping”.

The showstopper is the F.A.C.E. display – a massive digital screen where the grille would normally be. When parked it lights up with animations, messages or even your pet’s face for a fun touch. Voice activated and can show visual cues like a wave to pedestrians or updates for Uber riders it’s powered by Faraday’s AI using OpenAI tech to give the minivan a playful, Pixar like personality.

Faraday says they have 10,034 pre-orders, 4,000 of which are from businesses like rental and real estate companies that have put down a $100 consumer deposit. BlackRock’s additional 5.39 million shares and $105 million in recent funding will help with production. Faraday plans to build 100-150 vehicles this year and will use a Chinese manufacturer for parts and final assembly in California – a cost saving move that could mean supply chain delays.
