Super Mario Bros. Remastered Fan Game Hits PC Soon, Includes Lost Levels

Super Mario Bros. Remastered, a fan made PC remake of the 1985 NES classic by YouTube creator JoeMama, releases on September 13, 2025. This lovingly crafted project adds updated graphics, refined gameplay and new features while staying true to the original.
Built from the ground up the remake keeps the original’s soul with thoughtful tweaks. Sharper high resolution graphics and widescreen support brings Mario’s world to life with more pipes and enemies visible. Improved physics for smoother jumps and sprints while keeping the NES feel. Enhanced sound effects and chiptune music for nostalgic audio goodness.
The project has customization options. Resource packs let you change the visuals and audio to make the game look and sound like Super Mario World or entirely new themes. This means every Mushroom Kingdom adventure is unique to the player.
A built in Level Editor lets you design custom levels, place platforms, enemies and power-ups. While details on sharing levels are unknown, the editor is endless creative possibilities from challenging gauntlets to relaxed Mushroom Kingdom explorations, put Mario’s world in your hands.
The remake includes The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. Special and a reimagined All Night Nippon: Super Mario Bros., adding rare and classic games to the package. Each gets the same visual, audio and physics upgrades for a cohesive collection of Mario’s early adventures.
To get around Nintendo’s strict legal protections the team doesn’t use original assets, instead players will need to supply an NES ROM, a strategy used by N64 recompilation projects. This way the free project remains accessible without getting shut down, or so the team thinks.
