Smaller than its siblings, the DJI Osmo Nano seems to take cues from the DJI Action 2, a camera known for its modular design. Photos online show a device slightly bigger than the Action 2 but still smaller than the Osmo Action 5 Pro. A single camera lens on the front suggests a focus on simple, high quality capture rather than the 360 degree sweep of the Osmo 360.
What makes the Osmo Nano special is its modular design. Unlike traditional action cameras with fixed screens, this one has a detachable display module. Similar to the Action 2, you can attach a separate screen for framing shots or analyzing film. This adaptability makes the Osmo Nano an excellent companion. The lack of a front-facing display keeps the camera clean and compact while maintaining performance.

Leakers haven’t revealed the specs yet so we’re still in the dark. But the size and design of the Osmo Nano suggests it’s for users who need a camera that fits in a pocket but delivers stabilized footage. DJI’s track record with stabilization technology (Osmo Action 5 Pro) is high so we expect the Nano to have similar tech to deliver smooth video even in high energy activities like mountain biking or surfing. Its compact form also makes it a direct competitor to the Insta360 Go Ultra but DJI’s offering might have an edge with its ecosystem of accessories.
And then there’s the timing. Jasper Ellens, a well known figure in the drone and camera community, expects it to be launched before summer ends, possibly as early as August 2025. DJI has been releasing a lot of products recently, Osmo 360 and a robot vacuum cleaner under the Romo series. They are really pushing to be in multiple tech spaces and the Osmo Nano might be a move to get into the wearable camera market before Insta360 can solidify their position.
DJI’s ecosystem plays a big role in the Osmo Nano’s appeal. Integration with the DJI Mic 3, also rumored for a July 2025 release, could elevate the camera’s audio which is a big deal for vloggers and filmmakers. The ability to pair with DJI’s drones or other mounting systems makes it even more versatile and a favorite for creators who already use DJI gear. This interconnectedness gives the Osmo Nano an edge over standalone competitors and a seamless workflow from capture to edit.
Pricing is unknown but speculation is $300-$400 which is in line with the Action 2’s retail price. If true that puts the Osmo Nano as a premium yet affordable option, advanced features and all. For comparison the Insta360 Go 3S is $399.99 so DJI might be aiming for a competitive price to pull buyers away from established players.
