Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman sets new record after debut for England U19s | Football

Max Dowman has set a new record after making his debut for England U19s in a 2-0 win over Ukraine U19s at the Pinatar Arena on Wednesday.
The Arsenal wonderkid – who has just been named in the Gunners’ Champions League squad – came off the bench in the 70th minute, replacing Jeremy Monga for the last 20 minutes of the friendly clash.
Dowman has already played for the Young Lions at U16s and U17s level but has jumped up two age groups to represent the England U19s team.
At 15 years, eight months and three days – Dowman has now become the youngest-ever player for the England U19s, according to Transfermarkt.
Dowman will be hoping to make more appearances for Will Antwi’s team, who are in Murcia in Spain for three games this month as they begin their preparations for the upcoming UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Dowman in Arsenal’s Champions League squad

Meanwhile, Arsenal have named Dowman in their Champions League squad with the youngster looking set to break more records in the near future.
The teenager was selected as part of a 23-player List A squad on UEFA’s website.
If Dowman makes his Champions League debut before his 16th birthday on December 31, he will become the first 15-year-old to appear in the competition.

Youssoufa Moukoko is the current youngest player to feature in the Champions League, aged 16 years and 18 days.
Dowman, who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger, made his Premier League debut for Arsenal against Leeds United this season, coming on in the 64th minute and winning his side a penalty.
Because of his age, Dowman is obliged to be chaperoned while with the Arsenal first team and is not allowed to change in the main dressing room under FA safeguarding regulations.
Former Arsenal and England defender Lee Dixon believes Dowman is set for a massive future in football.
‘This kid is super special,’ Dixon told 10bet. ‘That’s not to say [Ethan] Nwaneri or Myles Lewis-Skelly aren’t, but this kid has got something that you can’t put your finger on.
‘He blows you away when he does his stuff. I’m reluctant to build him up because he doesn’t need building up. You just watch his showreel, watch him when he comes on.
‘His ability on the ball, wow. We’ve been waiting for him for a long time, and Mikel said that every club in the world knows him.
‘We’ve got an absolute gem on our hands and if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. He’s already shown what he can do. Had he struggled a bit in pre-season, you’d back off, thinking it’s a bit early. But he’s shown that he is ready. He is an exceptional talent.’
