Honda EV Fun Concept Teased Ahead of Official Electric Motorcycle Unveiling

Honda is entering the electric motorcycle market with a machine that’s been turning heads since its debut at EICMA 2024. The EV Fun Concept, a mid-sized naked roadster, will hit the market in 2025 and is Honda’s first full-sized electric motorcycle. After testing across European roads, Honda has released images of the bike in action and it’s clear they’re aiming to make riders feel connected.
Styling cues are borrowed from the CB500 Hornet, especially at the front where sharp, angular lines give it a streetfighter look without being too aggressive. The bike is slim with an aluminum frame that’s light and rigid and a single-sided swingarm adds a modern touch. Bar-end mirrors and a TFT display give it a futuristic feel and the charging dock cleverly hidden in what looks like a fuel tank hints at the bike’s electric heart.

Honda describes the EV Fun Concept as equivalent to a mid-sized internal combustion engine motorcycle which could be anywhere between 250cc and 750cc. Speculation points to 30-100 horsepower with likely leaning towards the higher end given the premium components. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres – 180/55-17 at the rear and 120/70-17 at the front – paired with inverted forks, dual Nissin radial calipers and a monoshock rear suspension suggest this isn’t just a commuter bike. The belt drive system is a nod to low-maintenance and power delivery is smooth and the coaxial motor and swingarm design keeps the belt tension consistent for a refined ride.
Unlike many electric motorcycles that rely on slower Level 2 charging or swappable batteries, the EV Fun Concept uses a fixed battery pack that’s compatible with CCS2 quick charging, a standard borrowed from electric cars. This means faster charging times and potentially longer rides without hours-long coffee breaks. Honda claims over 100km (62 miles) range but test images suggest a full-charge range of around 120 miles (193km) under ideal conditions. A dashboard snapshot showed 34% charge with 27 miles remaining but real-world range will drop at highway speeds.
Price and specs are the unknowns. Some say it will cost around $12,000, which would put it as a premium, but affordable option, compared to the LiveWire S2. The company’s bigger plan is clear: 30 electric models by 2030 and carbon neutrality for its motorcycles by 2040s.
