Ruben Amorim urged not to start ‘hopeless’ Man Utd star against Man City | Football

Ruben Amorim has been urged to reconsider his decision to start Altay Bayindir in goal for Sunday’s Manchester derby.
Bayindir has endured an error-strewn start to the season having displaced Andre Onana as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The Turkish international made a huge mistake in United’s Premier League opener against Arsenal, and was also at fault for one of Burnley’s goals prior to the international break.
But despite the errors, and the deadline-day signing of young Belgian keeper Senne Lammens, Amorim confirmed that he intended to keep faith with Bayindir for Sunday’s clash with Manchester CIty.
‘Altay is going to continue. I believe in Altay, he is ready to play,’ the United boss confirmed in Friday’s pre-match press conference.

However, that decision has dumfounded former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley, who thinks City will do everything they can to exploit Bayindir’s perceived lack of presence in his own six-yard box.
‘With Bayindir, every set-piece I’m putting Haaland and every centre half on him and just swinging it under the crossbar for fun,’ Burley told ESPN.

‘Hell, if Man City have got someone who takes long throws, I’m throwing it in Rory Delap style.
‘I’m just piling it into the box because he’s absolutely hopeless at coming out and dealing with aerial balls – he’s shown that.’
Elsewhere, Burley also expressed his fears that Amorim’s preferred central midfield partnership of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes could once again get overrun in the middle of the park.
‘I can’t help but think, looking at Cesmiro and Fernandes if that is the midfield two, that City have to dominate that area, they just have to,’ he added.
‘And if they do dominate that area as I expect, then the supply line to the wide players and Erling Haaland is going to be plentiful.
‘I just don’t see how United are going to dominate the middle of the park.
‘Yeah, they’ve got Mbeumo and some forward players that can get in behind and hurt City, but you have to have possession of the ball, and that’s been their big problem.’
