Man Utd’s new six-man leadership group revealed by Ruben Amorim | Football

Ruben Amorim has established a new six-man leadership group at Manchester United, leaving them to handle ‘small issues’ in the squad.
There is a rebuild going on this summer at Old Trafford, with the club trying to ship out a number of players and bring in a string of new signings.
Last season was disastrous for the Red Devils as they finished 15th in the Premier League and missed out on any silverware, meaning they are out of European competition for the coming campaign.
Amorim has been trusted to bring back success to the club, though, and he has entrusted six leaders in his squad to help him do just that.
Bruno Fernandes is the captain of Manchester United and Amorim has named five players alongside the Portuguese talisman who he hopes will sort out ‘small issues’ in the squad.

Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, goalkeeper Tom Heaton and Noussair Mazraoui are those in the senior roles.
‘We have a leadership group now,’ Amorim told the Daily Mail. ‘It’s not just Bruno, it’s not just Harry, it’s six guys now. They are responsible for the group. There are some things that in the last year I had to deal with that.

‘I said to them in this year, you deal with that. Small issues are with you guys. You are responsible. All these small changes, I think it’s helping the group.
‘We have Bruno, we have Licha, we have Harry, we have Diogo, we have Tom and we have Nous. So it’s not just the oldest ones.
‘Nous is in the group because he’s a character that I like. And I try to understand the dynamic of the group and try to reach every space. They are the guys that are responsible to keep everyone in line.’

Amorim is working on a wide range of small improvements at the club after a very difficult first few months in charge.
The 40-year-old is sounding positive that he is getting what he wants, with noted improvement in the club canteen.
‘I think are we better in every detail. In the organisation of the day-by-day,’ he said.

‘The nutrition is better, the way we cook, what we eat, how we prepare training. I think that we are more organised. I think we have people now that help us to be better. I’m not concerned with small things and I was last year.
‘So, those things help us and help me to think more about watching the game, watching the team. So it’s a big help for me.
‘When it’s a big help for the technical staff, it’s a big help for the players.’
The Red Devils continue their pre-season tour of America with a friendly against Everton in Atlanta on Sunday, kicking off at 10pm UK time.
